Today's Meetings: Both Cancelled

Two city bodies had been scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. tonight, and both meetings have been cancelled: the Finance & Claims Committee and the Library Board of Directors. Both were set to be held virtually via Zoom.

The Week Ahead

Saturday, Aug. 15: Special Meeting of the Urban Forestry Commission, 9:30 a.m., at 201 CT-136, Norwalk. This is the only meeting on the upcoming calendar scheduled at a physical location; the rest are listed as virtual via Zoom.

Monday, Aug. 17: Traffic Authority, 4 p.m., followed by the Police Commission at 4:15 p.m. Two Monday meetings have been cancelled — the Fair Housing Advisory Commission, which had been set for 3 p.m., and the Water Pollution Control Authority, set for 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 18: Fire Commission, 3 p.m. The Ordinance Committee meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. that day has been cancelled.

Wednesday, Aug. 19: Planning and Zoning Commission, 6 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 20: Three bodies meet at 7 p.m. — the Oak Hills Park Authority, the Sustainability and Resilience Task Force, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Weather

The National Weather Service office in Upton, N.Y., issued two Special Weather Statements overnight, both citing torrential rainfall that could lead to localized flooding and advising anyone outdoors to consider seeking shelter inside a building. The statements expired at 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. EDT. A Coastal Flood Statement issued Aug. 12 expired at 1 a.m. EDT today; it carried the instruction not to drive through flooded roadways.

Today's forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then partly sunny skies, with a high near 84 falling to around 82 in the afternoon. West wind 3 to 12 mph, with a 50% chance of precipitation and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 65 and northwest wind 2 to 10 mph.
