What The Norwalk Sound is

The Norwalk Sound is an aggregation and plain-language summary tool. It is built on public records and official sources — the city's meeting record via CivicClerk, state filings, National Weather Service alerts, and official public announcements — and turns them into something readable in five minutes. Everything it publishes links out to where it came from and credits that source there. It does not claim original reporting; see Local journalism we rely on below for the outlets doing that work.

It is not a newsroom, and nothing on this site carries a warranty that a page is complete — see Corrections below. Any source or subject named on this site can ask that something be corrected or removed. Ed reads and decides every request personally. The editorial split

Everything on this site falls into one of two lanes. Public-record content — meeting previews, the community calendar, filings, election facts — is generated automatically from official city documents and publishes as formatted public record, with no interpretation added. Interpretive content — the daily brief, meeting reports ("What They Decided"), and the public-safety digest — is drafted by AI and passes through a morning editorial review window, 5 to 6 ET, before it publishes. If nothing is flagged by the end of that hour the draft still goes out — silence at 6 counts as consent, not as nobody looking — and which way a given day's draft was resolved is recorded either way, internally, for anyone who later needs to check.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so. Corrections are noted on the story itself and listed in the next morning brief. Spot an error? Write to us — every note is read by a person: [email protected].
